Khofifah's Commitment to Reject Questionable Mining Students of Jember
Thursday (23/5) is 100 working days of East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa. Now the PMII Jember PC is questioning Khofifah's commitment regarding the refusal of exploitation of natural resources.
Nawa Bhakti Setya is the vision and mission of Governor Khofifah and Deputy Governor Emil Dardak who were delivered at a meeting at the East Java DPRD some time ago.
"One of the points, namely the East Java Harmoni, East Java Governor seeks to integrate between various elements including the potential of 51 ESDM points," said the Baijury Action Corps on the sidelines of the demonstration at the Jember Parliament Roundabout on Friday (05/24/2019).
According to data from the Forum for the Environment (Walhi), 608,193 hectares of East Java forest land are critical due to mining exploitation.
"Because until now there has been no clear policy. So we always take action repeatedly as a form of our commitment to reject the exploitation of this mine," he added.
Therefore, his party conveyed a number of demands submitted to the Governor of East Java. "Where we hope Mrs. Khofifah to ensure that East Java must be safe from all mining exploitation," he added.
Then they also questioned the matter of structuring the area and the overall assessment of areas that have ecologically important values. Because according to Baijury, the problem of spatial planning is not a focus in the governor's vision and mission.
"So there needs to be a revision of East Java RT / RW related to mining provisions," he continued.
In addition, he continued, the PMII Jember PC also demanded that Setiajit be dismissed from his position as Head of the East Java Energy and Mineral Resources Office.
"Because from the era of Governor Soekarwo, Setiajit always does work that empowers mining. Even though the Silo Block, it is still ongoing to exploit, there is no other solution," he said.
According to Baijury, in Jember Regency there are a number of mining points that need to be considered, and are expected not to be exploited. "Namely in Silo Block, Mount Manggaran, Puger area, and also some in Kencong, precisely Paseban Beach," he concluded.
